Both Houston seventh grade basketball teams remained unbeaten this past week with easy victories.
Weston Walker scored 14 points to lead the seventh grade boys past Licking 37-25 Tuesday night on the road. The seventh grade girls got 12 points from Kenzie Scheets and 11 from Alexa Ichord to beat Ava 34-26.
Austin Bathon and Jesse Martin scored six points apiece for the Tigers, who led 8-0 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 13 by halftime. Drake Bell and Michael Wallace added four points apiece.
Houston has defeated West Plains (37-30), Willow Springs (29-14), Ava (45-28) and Licking – all on the road – during its 4-0 start.
Not to be outdone, the Lady Tigers are 5-0 following Tuesday night’s home victory against Ava. Houston has beaten Licking (26-15), Willow Springs (30-20), Mountain Grove (31-29) and Liberty (29-7) during its undefeated start.
Sadie Ashworth scored four points against Ava for Houston, which took immediate control with a 7-2 first quarter. The Lady Tigers led 18-11 at the half.
