Dorvan Ray Bilbrey, 76, son of Charles High and Viola Catherine Barnett Bilbrey, was born March 21, 1931, at Summersville. He died Dec. 4, 2007, at Gainesville Healthcare Center.

He married Betty Joe Hurt Nov. 13, 1954. They had two children.

Mr. Bilbrey served in the U.S. Marines from April 30, 1952, to March 23, 1954.

He enjoyed jeeping and spending time at Cloud 9 Ranch, camping, being outdoors and playing with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred and Elmer; and sisters, Edna and Virgie.

Surviving are his wife of the home at Gainesville; daughters, Debra Jean Lawson of Gainesville and Teresa Ann Douglas of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Fay Bilbrey, Vona King and Idella Pitts of the Summersville area; six grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and his cat, Tabby..

Services were Dec. 7 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with Terry Douglas officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Summersville City Cemetery.
