Two accidents left five injured on Texas County roads Saturday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Cpl. Curtis Haden of the patrol said a car driven by Troy C. Conley, 40, of Yukon, failed to stop at a sign on Highway 17 about 12 miles southeast of Houston. The vehicle ran through an intersection and into a ditch, Haden said.
Conley and a passenger, Virginia M. Finn, 51, of Raymondville, were injured. She was taken to TCMH by ambulance with minor injuries. He was to seek his own treatment, Haden said. Both were wearing seat belts.
Three persons were hurt in a two-car crash at Highways 32 and 17 at Success, said Sgt. Jeff Kinder.
A 1998 Chevrolet driven by William C. Shoemaker, 74, of Lenox, ran through the intersection and struck a 1989 Chevrolet operated by Ambrosia L. Hale, 17, of California, on the passenger’s side. Fog was heavy at the time, Kinder said.
Shoemaker and Hale were taken to TCMH with minor injuries. A passenger in Hale’s vehicle, William J. Graham, 22, of Roby, sustained moderate injuries and also was transported to TCMH, Kinder said.
Shoemaker was wearing a seat belt; it was unclear whether the other motorists had their safety devices on, Kinder said.
