Texas County Memorial Hospital has named Fred Wood of Houston the November employee of the month.
Wood is a medical coder in the medical records department at TCMH. An employee of TCMH for 35 years, Wood is known for communicating well with the physicians regarding documentation required in medical charts for appropriate reimbursement.
“Fred is always ready to help in any way and assists others without being asked,” said Becky Scott, Wood’s supervisor and director of the department. “He thinks first of our patients, ensuring that they receive the best possible care.”
Wood regularly attends the hospital medical staff meetings to keep the physicians informed of medical documentation changes.
Wood began employment at TCMH in November 1972. He is currently the hospital’s longest serving full-time employee.
As employee of the month, Wood received a gift certificate honoring his achievement, a pin, $100 cash, a special parking place in the TCMH lot, one day of paid vacation, a membership in the TCMH Fitness Center, a $50 gift card, a gift certificate to D&L Florist and CD of the month from KUNQ. A reception was held at the hospital in honor of Wood.
Wood is eligible for the 2007 TCMH employee of the year award.
