Houston’s annual Christmas parade will fill the downtown business district Saturday with the sounds and sights of the holiday. The annual event, which is organized by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, has the theme, “My Favorite Christmas Movie Is…”
The 2 p.m. parade route follows Spruce Street, down Grand Avenue, west on Chestnut Street and back to an industrial building parking lot situated between Walnut and Spruce streets.
The Houston Sorosis Club is setting up the parade for the chamber, and the $900 in float prize money is provided by United Country Bartlett Real Estate, VIP Properties, Century 21 Show-Me Realty, Re-Max Farm and Homes Realty and 1ST Choice Realty GMAC Real Estate.
This year’s parade marshals are Bill Bates, former Houston city administrator, and his wife, Brenda, who is the director of the Texas County Library system.
Brenda Senter, chamber director, said those not yet listed in the lineup can appear Saturday for placement in the parade. Judging begins at 12:30 with the lineup starting at noon.

TCMH float – The Grinch, Raymondville Fire Department truck, Cabool High School Band, Miss Texas County, Miss Tiny Texas County, First National Bank float, Noveta Smith, KUNQ and Northside Baptist Church.
