Kirk Pierce and Ty Scheets each received two honors Monday night at the Houston Tigers’ football awards program.

Pierce was named Defensive Player of the Year after making 116 tackles, including 12 for losses, through the first nine games. He was also selected the Special Teams Player of the Year.

Scheets received Offensive Player of the Year and Tiger Pride honors. The junior wideout had team highs of 55 catches for 716 yards and seven touchdowns.

Other award winners were: Johnny Record, Scout Team Player of the Year; Kyle Williams; Most Improved Player; and Aaron Scheets, Lineman of the Year.
