Yvonne Cope of Houston was named Texas County Memorial Hospital’s December employee of the month.

An employee of TCMH for 12 years, Cope is a registered nurse in the obstetrics and intensive care departments. She is known for her positive attitude and cheerful spirit.

“Yvonne is always willing to help anyone in any department if she is able,” said Carla Bates, TCMH nurse manager for the obstetrics department. “She will come in on short notice – even in the middle of the night – when asked.”

Bates noted that Cope continued to work at TCMH even while undergoing cancer treatment, which “speaks volumes about her sense of responsibility and loyalty to her nursing profession, her departments, co-workers and TCMH.”

As employee of the month, Cope received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; $100 cash; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a membership in the TCMH Fitness Center; a $50 gift card; a gift certificate to D&L Florist and CD of the month from KUNQ.

A reception is planned at the hospital in honor of Cope. She is eligible for the 2008 TCMH employee of the year award.
