The Houston eighth grade boys avenged two earlier losses to finish third last week at the Willow Springs Tournament.

The Tigers, seeded sixth, knocked off No. 3 West Plains in the opening round before losing to Mountain Grove in the semifinals. Houston rebounded with a 33-22 victory against Ava in the third-place game.

Both West Plains and Ava had defeated Houston by double digits earlier in the season.

“It was nice to avenge those losses,” Tigers coach Brent Hall said. “I was happy with the team’s play overall in the tournament. I thought the team played hard and gave good effort the majority of the tournament.”
