Gentry Named Volleyball MVP, Others Honored

Senior Janell Gentry was named MVP of the Houston Lady Tigers volleyball team at Sunday’s banquet.

Gentry, who also received the serving and setting award, was the lone returning starter for the 2007 Lady Tigers. She led Houston with 414 assists and 41 aces to go with 54 kills, 13 blocks and 156 digs en route to All-SCA honors.

Fellow senior Kate Harper, who had a team-best 125 kills, was given the spiker and most improved awards.

Other award winners were: Erica Keeney (blocking), Chelsey Williams (defense), Sarah Pierce (Tiger hustle award) and Amber Honig (rookie of the year).
