Members of the Houston board of education met Monday night to begin the process to narrow the field of candidates seeking to become Houston superintendent.
About 20 applicants were received before the deadline passed. The school board met to review applicants, schedule interviews and ultimately present finalists to the public at a forum.
Superintendent Clinton Waters announced earlier that he would be retiring at the end of the current school year.
