Tory Burgess scored 14 points and Megan Kell added eight as the Houston JV Lady Tigers rallied past Mountain View-Liberty 31-25 Tuesday night at the Lady Panther Tournament.

Houston, which defeated Willow Springs 35-31 Monday night, will face Mountain Grove in Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. championship game.

Six different players scored for the Lady Tigers, who trailed Liberty by one point entering the fourth quarter. The victory was Houston’s third in a row.

Burgess scored a team-high 10 points in Monday’s win against Willow Springs. Jessica Herndon added eight points and Brittany McCloud had seven.

The Lady Tigers (7-5) erased an early two-point deficit by out-scoring Willow Springs 13-6 in the second quarter.

The Lady Tigers’ winning streak began Thursday night with a 40-35 victory at Liberty.

Herndon led Houston with eight points. Kelsi Adey scored seven and Erica Keeney chipped in six.

The Lady Tigers led 11-7 after the first quarter and stretched their advantage to seven points at the half.

“The JV is playing well,” Houston coach Brent Kell said. “They are doing a better job of handling the ball and getting their heads up and finding the open man.”
