Michael Buckner scored 13 points as the lone player in double figures as the Houston Tigers lost 58-29 Tuesday night at state-ranked Thayer.
It was the third game in five days for the Tigers, who defeated Licking 62-45 Friday night before losing 77-58 Saturday afternoon to Blue Eye, Ark.
Houston (9-9) led Thayer through three quarters before eventually losing by nine two weeks earlier at the Liberty Tournament. The rematch wasn’t nearly as close.
Thayer (19-1) raced ahead 18-2 and led by 24 at the half. Houston, which scored 19 of its 29 points in the fourth quarter, was held to two, three and five points in the first three quarters.
Saturday afternoon against Blue Eye, Buckner hit five 3-pointers and Jesse Setters and Chad Hutsell added three apiece in the loss.
Buckner finished with 18 points for Houston, which was outscored 24-10 in the opening quarter. Hutsell scored 13 and Setters added nine.
Buckner scored 17 points and fellow senior Ryan O’Neil added 12 in Houston’s 17-point victory Friday night at Licking.
Hutsell scored nine points and Tyler DeWitt had eight for Houston, which led 38-24 at the half and by 23 points entering the fourth quarter.
