The Missouri Department of Agriculture will hold a meeting Thursday in Houston to discuss steps to prepare for potential agriculture emergencies, such as livestock disease outbreak.
The event is 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. A meal will be served. Persons can make a reservation by calling 800-897-1163, ext. 35, or send an e-mail to moagproducers@ses-corp.com.
The presentation is intended to raise awareness of producers about local and state efforts as they relate to agriculture emergency planning, including roles and responsibilities, reportable symptoms, bio-security and possible impacts and recovery related to agriculture emergencies.
The meeting is held in conjunction with the Texas County Cattlemen’s Association, University Extension and local emergency management.
