Houston police handled numerous investigations during the last week and made several arrests for those wanted on warrants. Officers:
-Charged Thomas L. Rose, 48, of 308 Broadway, with stealing under $500 and trespassing on Jan. 31 following a shoplifting incident at Houston Wal-Mart Supercenter. Police said Rose took a bottle of Jim Bean whiskey and placed it in the sleeve of a jacket.
Rose told police that he stole the liquor because “it’s my birthday, and I don’t have any money.”
-Arrested Jerry W. Collins, 55, of Solo, on a Phelps County warrant on Jan. 29 charging him with DWI.
-Arrested Candy L. Smith, 34, of 205 Steffens, on a warrant charging her with passing bad checks, $500 or more, no account, on Feb. 1. Her sister, Dawn M. Sikes, 29, of 503 Florence, was arrested on the same charge on Jan. 29.
-Cited Kerry D. Brooks, 20, 4447 Mineral Drive, on Feb. 3, with failing to exhibit an insurance identification card and improper vehicle registration.
-Arrested Chance D. Bland, 17, 403 N. Grand, Apt. A, on Feb. 1, on a county warrant charging him with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seat belt device. He was unable to post $1,000.
-Cited Steven M. Counts, 24, of 15333 Piney Drive, with operating a motor vehicle while operator’s license suspended and failure to register a motor vehicle with the Missouri Department of Revenue on Feb. 2.
-Charged Troy N. Kidwell, 26, of 636 Highway B, with failure to yield the right-of-way and driving while suspended on Feb. 25. The citations came after he struck a vehicle driven by John H. Willbanks, 58, of Beulah at U.S. 63 and Chestnut Street.
-Charged Jason J. Pittman, 34, of Bucyrus, with failure to register a motor vehicle with the Missouri Department of Revenue and operating a motor vehicle while operator’s license revoked on Feb. 1.
-Investigated the theft of a purse belonging to Kimberly Karaginides, 40, of Willow Springs, who is employed at H & R Block on West Highway 17. The incident occurred Jan. 28. Among the item taken were financial cards.
