Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson announced this week that he will seek re-election to his office in the August Primary.
Watson, a Democrat, is completing his first term as sheriff. Watson is a former Missouri State Highway Patrol office who retired after a 22-year career in 1999. A native of the Solo area, he is a 1961 graduate of Houston High School and served three years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He attended Drury University.
The first day to file for a county office is Feb. 26. Filings close March 25.
Locally, county residents will elect a collector-treasurer, two associate commissioners, county assessor, public administrator, sheriff and coroner. Representatives to the Missouri House also will be elected.
