Houston senior Emily Stubbs was named 2008 Hoop Queen during Friday night’s festivities at Heitt Gymnasium.
Stubbs’ coronation was the highlight of a night that saw Ava sweep the Lady Tigers and Tigers.
The Lady Tigers fell behind early and were never able to recover as they lost 39-30.
The Tigers rallied from a double-digit deficit and trailed by one point when sophomore Tyler DeWitt scored with 2:02 remaining. But without leading scorer Michael Buckner, who went down with a knee injury a few moments earlier, Houston gave up the final seven points of the game and lost 48-40.
