Valerie Ealy of Houston was named Texas County Memorial Hospital’s January employee of the month.

An employee of TCMH for three years, Ealy is a registered nurse in the medical surgical department. She is known for her willingness to handle anything that comes up during her night shift.

“Valerie takes a genuine role in patient care,” said Amy Tucker, medical surgical department charge nurse. “She doesn’t leave work undone, and she doesn’t pass on work to others unless absolutely necessary.”

Tucker noted that Ealy communicates well with nursing staff and ancillary departments about patient care as a “positive leader that encourages teamwork and communication.”

As employee of the month, Ealy received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; $100 cash; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a membership in the TCMH Fitness Center; a $50 gift card; a gift certificate to D&L Florist and CD of the month from KUNQ.

A reception is planned at the hospital in honor of Ealy. She is eligible for the 2008 TCMH employee of the year award.
