First Sign of Spring: Baseball

Although its annual 50-inning game was reduced significantly, the Houston Tigers took the field Saturday afternoon in their first public appearance since finishing second in the state last year.

The fundraiser was planned to begin at 9 a.m., but blustery conditions in the 20s and a wet field pushed the start back four hours.

Houston opens its season Monday in the SCA Tournament. The third-seeded Tigers face Thayer at 4:30 p.m. at home.
