Job seekers in Texas County have two new resource tools to use to find employment.

Officials from the Missouri Career Center have installed equipment at the Texas County Food Pantry on East 17 Highway in Houston that allows residents to access computerized job listings, as well as find tools helping them prepare for employment.

Rick Henry, with the Division of Workforce Development in the Missouri Department of Economic Development, said the access point provides an outlet to two groups of resources. The first is the SHARE network, which is an online directory of service providers in the area to help residents obtain assistance with such problems as finding food for their families, arranging transportation to job interviews and other services.

The second part offers easy access to job listings on such sites as Missouri’s GreatHires.org. The site provides access to thousands of Missouri jobs, with job matches based on skills as well as job titles. Searches can be done by title, skill set, field of study or zip code. A personal homepage also can be created to store searches, position descriptions and communication with businesses.

Using the system is easy: Users simply click on the icon they want, and they are taken to the proper Web site. Staff at the Texas County Food Pantry is also available to offer help.
