Houston senior Kirk Pierce signed a letter of intent today to play baseball at Evangel University. Pierce batted .442 with four home runs and 34 RBIs last season to help the Tigers finish second in the state.
Evangel coach Lance Quesenberry, who saw Pierce the past two years at prospect camps, said Pierce’s bat could make an immediate impact with his program. He also said Pierce could contend for the starting catching job by his sophomore season. Evangel will have two returning senior catchers next year.
“We know we’re getting the total package. He’s a good kid, good player and comes from a winning program,” Quesenberry said of Pierce. “You can’t ask for more than that.”
