Sales tax revenue collected by county merchants dipped about 5 percent from a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The agency said collections from a half-cent sales tax totaled $87,243 for the month. That’s down about $4,766 from a year ago. For the year, the total is $162,198, which remains up by about $1,687.
Retailers in the county also collect two half-cent sales taxes earmarked for debt repayment on the county justice center and general operations. Both generated about $86,990. That’s down about $4,695 on each from a year ago. In the first two months of the year, both netted about $161,900, an increase of a $1,880 for the year.
