The shorthanded Texas County Spikers 13s placed fifth last weekend in the Smackdown Volleyball Tournament at Branson.
“I’m very proud of how the girls played,” coach Britany Cheek said. “Our goal was to make it to the gold division and we did. Now we want to win it.”
In pool play, the Spikers swept Club Bear and Club Smack in two sets and split with Joplin and Springfield Stars. They were defeated in bracket play by Tri-County Talons.
The Spikers are hosting a bake sale March 22 at Houston Wal-Mart to raise money for April’s regionals. The team’s next tournament is March 29 in Springfield.
