The Houston Tigers baseball team will make its first public appearance of 2008 at Saturday’s annual 50-inning scrimmage.
The game, which coach Brent Hall said would begin around 9 a.m., will raise money for the Diamond Club. The proceeds will be used to help purchase a new scoreboard.
The Tigers will have many new faces from last year’s team that finished second in the state. Gone are team MVP Gus Durst and starters Justin Stringer, Nathan Trentham, Cory Hart and Travis Swearengin.
The returning lineup features all-state senior Kirk Pierce, who had a standout season despite suffering a thumb injury that forced him to switch positions. Also returning with significant varsity experience are Caleb Smith, Devin Harper and David Weybright.
