Family Seeks Support after Murder Suspect's Arrest

For 26 years, Mildred Spencer wondered who violently killed her daughter by strangling her with own right shoelace and shot her.

A few days after learning that a Franklin County man had been implicated in the crime, the matriarch of the Spencer family spoke Monday in a courtroom, asking that Donald R. “Doc” Nash, the suspect, be held without bond. In the end, a judge ordered Nash held on $750,000 cash bond.

For members of the Spencer family, the last few days have been a blur. They know that the criminal proceedings will likely drag on for some time.

“We would like to ask that anyone who can support us by attending any of the upcoming court proceedings would be appreciated,” said Darla Spencer, a daughter-in-law.

The next court date in Dent County is April 28.

“We would also ask that everyone continue to keep our family and law enforcement officers in their prayers as we still have a long road ahead of us,” she said.
