Hazel Mae Banks, 93, daughter of Charles Houston Campbell and Ollie Ethel Smith Campbell, was born Jan. 19, 1915, at Rector. She died April 21, 2008, at Mountain View Heath Care.
She married James Earl Banks March 25, 1933. They were married 45 years before his death July 1, 1978, and had seven children.
Mrs. Banks was a member of the First Baptist Church of Summersville, where she was baptized. She enjoyed going to church. When she was unable to go, she enjoyed having the members come by and visit her.
She loved quilting and shared her talent with her children and grandchildren. Each grandchild was given a quilt at special times in their lives.
She loved gardening and working in her yard. Some of her favorite times were camping with her family and cooking Sunday dinners for them.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two children, John H. Banks and Betty Jane Boyet; three brothers, Elvin, Herman and Bob; two sisters, Gladys and Bernice; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Surviving are her children, Shirley Patton of Warrenton, Kenny Banks of Summersville, Harold Banks and Carol Smith of Eminence and Kathleen Martin of Mountain View; one sister, Helen Ramsey of Eminence; one brother, Jim Campbell of Olympia, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and a number of great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were April 24 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.
