Texas County Clerk Don Troutman reported Monday that 105 requests for absentee ballots had been received for the April 8 election. Many of those, he said, represented requests from those who have disabilities.
Troutman’s office maintains a list of those whose disabilities keep them from traveling to polls. They receive a letter asking them in they want to vote in an upcoming election. If they do, the ballot is sent out and doesn’t require a notary. The voted ballot is then returned to Troutman’s office.
Troutman said he expects a light to moderate turnout for Tuesday’s election. The only county-wide issue on the ballot is for Texas County Memorial Hospital board. Municipality and school races also appear on the ballot.
