A new license plate will be on Missouri roads beginning June 16.
The new license plates, which will replace the current design dating back to 1997, will feature a bluebird sitting on a small hawthorn branch. The bluebird is the state bird. The hawthorn is the state floral emblem. The design won 56 percent of an Internet vote last year.
The plates fade from white on top to aquamarine on the bottom with darker blue letters and numbers. In the background will be an outline of the shape of Missouri.
