A Texas County Relay For Life fundraiser hosted by the Roby Christian Church on April 5 at the Community Center in Roby raised $3,700.
Proceeds aid in the fight against cancer.
The event started Saturday morning with a Poker Run (motorcycle ride) leaving from Hog’s Breath Cycles in Houston and ending in Roby. The riders, as well as the local citizens, enjoyed an all-you-can-eat barbecue as they supported the organization.
The meal was followed by a pie and baked goods auction. Planning committee chairperson Dawn Spencer was impressed with the participants.
“The Relay For Life is a grassroots effort. The Roby community is a great example of the people coming together to fight back against a disease that hurts too many people in our area,” she said.
