The City of Houston has named a new emergency preparedness director. He is Arthur Thomas.

Thomas, a Houston resident, is an employee of the South Central Correctional Center at Licking.

In additional to post-secondary education, Thomas has experience in safety issues and has been active in search and rescue organizations in California before his relocation to Houston.

“We’re fortunate to have found someone with so much experience,” said City Administrator Larry Sutton.

Thomas replaces Bill Nichols, who retired at the end of April.
