Licking’s 24th annual PRCA and WPRA rodeo is May 29 through May 31.

This year’s featured act is John Harrison, PRCA barrelman and specialty acts performer. He is a multi-talented entertainer specializing in Roman riding, trick riding, trick roping and comedy. As a barrelman, he and his two paint horses, Gus and Mouse, wow the crowds.

Chris Pyle returns to the 2008 Licking PRCA and WRPA Rodeo to announce events. Pyle has been a PRCA member since 2003.

Former Licking resident and West Plains Grizzly Volleyball coach Trish Kissiar Knight will be the grand marshal for this year’s parade. Knight was recently inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. May 31. The parade route will run from the high school north down Main Street. Antique tractors will be on display between the Licking Museum and NAPA. More than 60 food and craft vendors will be along Main Street, in the Fox Funeral Home parking lot, the Church of Christ parking lot and inside the VFW post home.

The Texas County Museum of Art and History will be open rodeo Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be special displays by Lanie Frick (rodeo poster designer and acclaimed artist), the sixth graders’ Underground Railroad quilt and the third graders’ Licking miniatures models.

A special section on the rodeo will appear in this week’s Herald.
