Plans are under way for the third annual Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation Charitable Golf Tournament, which is Saturday, June 14, at Oakwood Golf Course in Houston.
The two-person scramble costs $100 per team. The fee includes a cart, green fees and lunch. Tee times are 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the tournament is limited to 40 teams.
Cash prizes will be awarded in four flights with three places in each flight. The number of entrants in the tournament will determine prizes and flights.
A hole-in-one prize of $20,000 is sponsored by Wachovia Securities in Houston. Prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin will also be given in addition to door prizes for the entrants.
Sponsorships of the charitable golf tournament are also being sought for everything from corporate underwriters of the tournament to course hole sponsors. Sponsorships are as follows: Masters Level, $1,000; Champion Level, $500; Benefactor Level, $250 and Hole Sponsor, $100. Sponsorships of $250 or more include fees for at least one golf team. According to tournament organizers, several area business have already committed to sponsoring the tournament, including four Masters Level corporate underwriters: Mercy Health Plans; JE Dunn Construction Co.; HMN Architects Inc., and UMB Bank, N.A.
The TCMH Healthcare Foundation is the non-profit organizational arm of the hospital that develops relationships and financial resources to support the healthcare programs, projects and services of the hospital. A board of community leaders from across the county direct the TCMH Healthcare Foundation and the funds held by the foundation.
“The TCMH Healthcare Foundation golf tournament will assist us in developing the funds needed for our endowed scholarship program which we began this year,” said Jay Gentry, TCMH Healthcare Foundation director.
The foundation has awarded four scholarships during the school year – two in the spring and two in the fall – since 2006. The foundation board has plans of making additional awards for the fall 2008 semester.
