If tradition holds, it will rain during the three-day Raymondville Picnic that runs tonight [Thursday] through Saturday.
Over the years, old-timers claim that you can always count on rain during the gathering.
The annual event is held at the Raymondville Fairgrounds on Highway B. In additional to a carnival midway, musical entertainment is planned nightly. It is the 57th annual edition of the gathering, which also features food, crafts, games and bingo.
The Texas County Health Department will offer a free tetanus shot and blood pressure checks in the community building. The Missouri Department of Conservation will have a fur display, and free publications will be available. Attendees also will have a chance to take grab up to $500 in First National Bank’s “Typhoon Tycoon.”
This year’s midway is provided by Bluff City Shows.
A schedule appears in this week’s Messenger.
