Houston police are investigating burglaries that occurred early Sunday at three local businesses. A fourth break-in is under investigation by the county.
At Houston Bowl, someone pried open the front door, and tampering was visible at a rear door. Pry marks were found on the exterior sheet metal around the structure. Some shoes were missing.
As part of the investigation, officers checked across the street at Hartville Feed, where they also found a break-in.
Police discovered a 1 1/2 x 4 foot gap in the east side of building. It appeared suspects had removed screws and cut and bent the metal. The only thing missing was a tan-colored rain slicker and possibly two pair of insulated overalls. A prybar was found near the entry point. It appears the suspects were parked in the grass next to the business.
Both businesses are located near Highway B and U.S. 63. On Monday, the county responded to a break-in at Phoenix Theatre.
Workers at Hayes Cafe arrived Sunday morning at C.W. Harry Drive and found evidence of a break-in. About $50 was taken, police said. Entry was found similar to the other break-ins.
The investigation continues.
