John Allen Fiske Jr., 63, son of John Allen Fiske Sr. and Roberta A. Ackerman, was born June 9, 1945, at Hayden, Colo. He died June 11, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He married Jeannie Clark Oct. 14, 1966. They were married 41 years and had four sons.
In Mr. Fiske’s younger years, he was baptized in the Christian church in Colorado. He and his family attended the Summersville Christian Church.
He worked in the logging woods for many years with his brothers. In later years, he drove a truck, doing long-distance hauling with his brothers and sons.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing music and working on his trucks, spending time with family and friends over a cup of coffee at home or in a local restaurant and reading. He read many Louis L’Amour westerns and his logging books.
He loved being in the woods in Colorado and Missouri, sitting at his kitchen table looking over the hillside and watching for deer and other wildlife at the creek bed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Jim, David, John and Joe of the Summersville area; four brothers, Don, Tom, Gene and Jim of the Summersville area; sister, Darlene of Conway, Ark.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were June 14 at the Antioch Cemetery with Paul Hamm officiating under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
