Inclement weather didn’t stop Texas County’s fight against cancer.
Despite heavy rains that forced the annual Relay for Life indoors Friday night, a big crowd packed the Murfin Building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce for the annual fundraiser that benefits the American Cancer Society,
With an improvised schedule, the Relay went on as planned. Instead of a survivor lap – held each year when partcipants walk around Tiger Stadium to kick-start the event – a list to recognize each person was read. Cancer survivors wore purple shirts feature this year’s theme: “Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back.” A live auction followed before Country Survivor Band performed.
Tents were replaced by tables lining the inside of the building with food, drinks and snacks.
