Alene Verna Hinton Kirkman, 90, daughter of Walter and Lula Price Hinton, was born May 10, 1918, at Raymondville. She died July 22, 2008, at the home of her daughter at Fenton.
After high school, she taught at Split Limb School.
She married Clark Kirkman Jan. 31, 1946. They had one daughter.
Mrs. Kirkman retired from Rawlings Sports Goods in Licking and moved in 1990 to Fenton.
She transferred her membership to the Boone Creek Baptist Church in March 1964 from Ashley Creek Baptist Church, where she was baptized in her teens. She enjoyed her daily Bible readings and singing with her sisters on the local radio station.
Her hobbies were playing the piano, sewing, cleaning and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and siblings, Kenneth Hinton, Fern Miller and Glenn Hinton.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Page; brother, Leroy Hinton of Houston; sister, Jean Brown of St. Peters; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Services were July 24 at the Boone Creek Baptist Church with Dr. James Miller officiating. Burial was in the Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
