Here’s how to figure your tax increase after receiving your notice from the county.
1. Look for the 2008 appraised difference line.
2. Multiple that figure by 19 percent.
3. Take that number and divide it by 100.
4. Now multiple that by $5. That’s the answer – showing your increase if you live in Piney Township. It could be a little lower.
If political subdivisions lower their levy so they won’t receive a windfall, the impact will be less. A new law goes into effect Aug. 28 that requires that.
