Hazel Erma Yeates Igou Gale, 90, fourth child of Charles Franklin and Alice May Summers Yates, was born March 15, 1918, in Fort Scott, Kan. She died July 8, 2008.

She married Nelson David Igou in January 1935. They had two daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Nelson Igou and Arthur Gale; two brothers, George and Karl Yeates; and one sister, Ruth Yeates Reed.

She was always caring for others with her hand-made quilts, afghans and other household items.

Surviving are her daughters, Loretta Igou Brown of Summersville and Alice Joan Igou Gourley of Rolla; two sisters, Florence Yeates Duncan of Hines, Ore., and Mary Lou Yeates McLaughlin of Oregon; two brothers, Charles Yeates and Jack Yeates of Oregon; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were July 12 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Eldon Gourley officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Phelps County Regional Hospital Hospice in care of the funeral home.
