The Houston Tiger Booster Club is hosting a membership meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the football field.
Anyone interested in joining or supporting the booster club is asked to attend. Membership dues of $15 will be collected that evening.
Members will receive an exclusive T-shirt and will be invited to future announced booster club meetings to voice their opinion and help make decisions. They will also volunteer in the concession or memorabilia stand at home games to help raise money for Houston’s athletic teams.
Last year was a successful one for the booster club. In the first year after several dormant ones, it raised enough money to give the baseball team $2,500 toward the purchase of a new state-of-the-art scoreboard. A donation was made to the junior class for prom, and a successful end-of-the year sports banquet for all high school athletes was held.
There are many projects already planned for the upcoming year, including another sports banquet and the purchase of more equipment needs for sports teams.
Also this year, the booster club will sell all-sports passes following Monday night’s approval by the school board. It will provide the holder admission to all home games from the varsity level to middle school. Details will be announced next week.
