One person is dead and another injured in a hot-air balloon accident Sunday morning near the Texas and Wright county line.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Elmer “Bill” Blair, 49, of Mountain Grove, was killed when some of the propane tanks used to bring the craft airborne leaked, causing the balloon to become engulfed in flames southwest of Dunn.

Blair jumped from the balloon and was dead at the scene. A friend, Elmer Lane, 34, was injured trying to pull Blair from the burning wreckage, the patrol said. He was transported to a Springfield hospital.

Troopers said it a single-person balloon that was tethered to a truck.

Cabool and Mountain Grove emergency personnel responded to the scene, which was south of Business 60 on Stone Ridge Drive in Texas County.
