Drake Bell’s fourth-quarter rushing touchdown gave the Houston eighth grade football team an 8-0 victory against Salem Thursday night.
The seventh grade tied Salem 6-6.
Bell rushed for 44 yards on five carries to lead the eighth grade to its first victory of the season. He also converted a two-point conversion run following his touchdown.
Quarterback Weston Walker was 4-of-8 passing for 19 yards. He also rushed for 24 yards.
Austin Bathon had 23 yards on five carries for the Tigers (1-1). Bell had 15 receiving yards.
In the seventh grade game, Austin Foster’s 39-yard rushing score helped Houston salvage a tie with Salem.
Tigers quarterback Keegon Cantrell completed 6 of his 11 attempts for 74 yards.
Both teams travel to Cabool Thursday. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m.
