Mark Wayne Lord, age 46, was born July 23, 1962, in San Diego, Calif. He passed away Sept. 15, 2008, in his home in Houston, Mo.
Mark moved to Missouri as a young child with his parents, Wesley Dale and Gerry Lee Lord. He graduated from Central High School in 1980.
He married Sandra Latimer on Oct. 17, 1980, and to this union three children were born.
Mark is survived by his wife, of the home; his children, Joshua Lord, Ozark, Benjamin Lord, Springfield, and Brittany Hammond and husband, Derek, of Licking; his parents of Springfield; a brother, Charles Lord and wife, AJ, of Strafford; sister, Michelle Wadkins, and husband, James, Fair Grove; a brother, Dale Lord and wife, Nancy, of North Logan, Utah; and four nieces, Holly Lord, Amanda and Shelby Wadkins and Clara Lord.
Mark was a member of the First Baptist Church, Houston, Mo. He was active in his church and was ordained as a deacon on June 18, 2006. He served on the Houston R-1 School Board of Education for 10 years and was a past member and president of the Texas County Gideons. He worked in the retail grocery business for more than 25 years, where he established a reputation of being honest, fair and a wonderful man to work for.
He loved hunting, fishing and football, but his greatest pleasure was his children and their activities as they grew from small children into the adults he was so proud of. He will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the First Baptist Church, Houston, Mo., with the Rev. Ben Gard and the Rev. Howell Burkhead officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
