A grandmother and two her of grandchildren were killed in a Cabool crash Saturday when a trailer-truck unit loaded with cattle overturned on top of their vehicle, authorities, who continue to investigate, said.

The accident happened just after midnight on a sharp corner east of Cabool and came to rest on a passenger vehicle, according to information from the Cabool Police Department.

Three Poplar Bluff residents in the vehicle died: Malinda Sypolp, 37, and her grandchildren, Heathor Coley, 3, and Gunnar Dickin, 17 months. The car’s driver, Richard Brudor of Poplar Bluff, was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, police said.

His condition could not be determined Saturday evening.

Vehicle passengers Dawn Morgan and an infant male, both of Poplar Bluff, were treated at an area hospital and released.

The driver of the tractor-trailer rig, Rod Cambell of Crane, was not injured in the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by Cabool police and the investigation team of the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Special bereavement services were announced Saturday for rescue personnel who were called to the scene.
