Ruth Edith Pfeiffer Morgan, 77, daughter of Fritz and Emma Saborowski Pfeiffer, was born June 11, 1931, in Rauental, Germany.
She grew up in Germany in the mid ’40s. When she was only days away from the legal age of 18, she, her mother and brother fled Germany to escape the war-torn region. Her father joined them and they traveled to the United States, settling in Illinois.
She learned to speak English from the children she cared for and later attended Washington University in St. Louis. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree with an R.N. license.
She was the first R.N. at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, where she worked for a time. She worked and retired from General Leonard Wood Army Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood.
She married Marvin Edward Morgan in November 1961. They had three children, one dying in childbirth.
Mrs. Morgan enjoyed being with family members, celebrating life together. She was an avid Christian and loved gardening, flowers, animals, puzzles, traveling and playing board games with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Anne Morgan Newsome of Bucyrus; one son, Richard Daniel Morgan of Gilbert, Ariz.; one brother, Dr. Eric Armin Pfeiffer of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Sept. 5 at the Hickory Ridge Baptist Church with Philip Nava officiating.
Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
