Sixty-nine walkers participated Sunday afternoon in the 16th annual CROP Hunger Walk.
Beginning at the Houston United Methodist Church, volunteers carried balloons and signs as they walked designated 1- or 3-mile courses. A total of $3,163 was raised. It will be distributed to food pantries in Texas County and other locations across the world.
The Methodist church won the traveling “Stinky Shoe Award” for the most donations by raising $1,374.
CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. More than 2,000 CROP Hunger walks are held each year.
