James “Dickey” Dean Sawyer, 66, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his home in Raymondville.
He was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Tyrone, son of Earl Sherman and Maxine Delcey Inman Sawyer.
He grew up in Houston and graduated from Houston High School in 1961. He worked 30 years at Ford Motor Co. and loved working on old cars. He enjoyed being outside and playing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a wife, Barbara Bell Sawyer.
Survivors include his mother of Licking; four daughters, Tina Marlatt of Wentzville, Deanna Whitaker of St. Peters, Kim Folsom of Houston and Patricia Sawyer of Raymondville; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Calvin Sawyer of Raytown, Hubert Sawyer of Pleasington, Kan., and Earl Dale Sawyer of Cabool; two sisters, Cleta Brown of Green Ridge and Lucille Tilfer of Turner, Ore.; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday) at Evans Funeral Home. Services are 1 p.m. Friday at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Ijames officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
