The Houston Alumni Association concluded activities Saturday night with a banquet at Hiett Gymnasium.
Earlier in the day, alumni gathered for a Saturday afternoon mixer. Several classes also held reunions during the two-day affair.
Earlier: The Houston Tigers improved to 4-2 Friday night with a 39-6 victory in front of a large homecoming crowd at Tiger Stadium.
Sophomore Katelyn Kell was crowned homecoming queen before the game. The 1958 football team, the first SCA champions in school history, was recognized at halftime.
Also Friday night, the Houston Alumni Association sponsored a musical entertainment program at Hiett Gymnasium that featured entertainers from several generations.
Homecoming activities kicked off Friday afternoon with the annual parade through downtown. The sophomore class float took top honors. Autumn Walker won the bike contest.
Saturday’s activities include a 7- 10 a.m. breakfast at the Houston Senior Center, 1:30 – 3 p.m. mixer at the Houston Elementary School and a banquet that begins at 6:30 p.m. at Hiett Gymnasium. Graduating classes receiving diplomas in years ending in “3” and “8” will receive recognition. Track team members also will highlighted, and announcement of a recipient for the “Educator’s Hall of Fame” is expected.
Saturday’s schedule of events:
7 to 10 a.m. – Alumni breakfast at the Houston Senior Center on Grand Avenue. Cafeteria style (cost per item). Sponsored by Houston Senior Center.
9 a.m. – Class of 1953 breakfast at Ozark Baptist Church
11 a.m. – Class of 1948 reunion at the Raymondville Community Room
11 a.m. – Class of 1958 reunion at Loretto House
11 a.m. – Class of 1998 reunion at Emmett Kelly Park
11:30 a.m. – Class of 1963 reunion at Horse Creek Inn
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Alumni mixer at the elementary cafeteria on Bryan Street. Refreshments will be served by the alumni association. Banquet tickets will be available.
2 to 6 p.m. – Class of 1983 reunion at the Houston Housing Center with a carry-in dinner.
6:30 p.m. – Alumni banquet at Hiett Gymnasium. Special recognition of classes ending in “3” and “8,” former track team members and announcement of the Educator’s Hall of Fame recipient.
