Texas County’s entities will collect about $7.1 million in taxes, according to a report issued Tuesday by county government. That’s up about 10 percent from last year.
The revenue represents an increase of about $622,270 in taxes from last year that will be paid by personal and real estate property owners in the county.
The amount of personal property taxes totals about $2.01 million, which is an increase of $51,531 from a year ago. About $5.1 million in real estate taxes were tallied in 2008. That’s an increase of $570,739 from the same period a year ago, according to figures compiled by county officials.
About 26,000 tax bills will be dropped in the mail on Wednesday.
They are payable by Dec. 31. Township taxes are collected by the county collector at the county courthouse.
