Doris Jean Hurt, 71, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Mountain View Health Care.

She was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Summersville, daughter of Roscoe Henry Morton and Mazie Opal Price. She and Jack Hurt were married Feb. 19, 1955.

She was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy and attended until her health no longer permitted. She was an employee of Angelica Uniform for more than 30 years before retiring in January 1989 after being diagnosed with cancer.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Feb. 1, 2008; three brothers, Merle, Bud and Eddie Morton; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include three children, Vicky Medley of Mountain View and Larry Hurt and Michelle McKee of Summersville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Morton of Mountain View; five sisters, Mary Hobbs of Raymondville, Beverly Hampton of Mountain View and Betty Williams, Helen Merritt and Linda Young of Summersville; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Services were Monday, Nov. 24, at Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. Stacey Prewett and the Rev. Robert Medley officiating. Burial was in Summersville City Cemetery.
