The Missouri Veterans Commission confirmed the guest speakers for a groundbreaking ceremony for Missouri’s fifth state veterans cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the cemetery site on Highway H just off of Interstate 44 at exit 156.

Scheduled to speak are: Brigadier General Gregg F. Martin, commanding general U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center and Fort Leonard Wood; State Rep. David Day, Missouri Veterans Commission Vice Chair Bernadette Miller, Pulaski County Presiding Commissioner Bill Ransdall and Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary for Management Robert J. Henke, who will also present a ceremonial check for the $7.5 million federal grant to construct the cemetery.

Due to extremely limited parking at the ceremony site, parking for the groundbreaking will be at Townfield Plaza Shopping Center, 320 Ichord Ave. in Waynesville, next to McDonald’s and Hallmark with shuttle pick up at 3 p.m.
